I'm making pregen characters - one for each Class - for an upcoming con game next month. I'll be running 'White Plume Mountain' (which somebody has thankfully already converted to 5e), and figure there will be up to six players (so they'll all be able to pick from among the 12 pregens I've created).
I'd like to give each of the PCs a magical item or two. But - not being that experienced with D&D - I want to make sure I don't overdo things or make them way too powerful.
So give me an idea of how many magical items a PC would likely have by this level? One or two?
I'm also not sure if I should roll them up randomly (using the charts in the DMG), or pick a few cool ones that will supplement individual PC weaknesses.

As the name suggests, these are the possessions that your. There's rules for starting equipment at higher levels on page 38 of the DMG. Unfortunately for your player, at 4th level the book says he should get normal starting equipment; he only starts to get more at 5th level onwards. Which kind of sucks, so you should probably either give him 5th-level starting equipment.
