Elemental Team Building
In terms of elemental team building, there are two setups that you can do in terms of elements. Elemental weaknesses play a big role in Brave Frontier. As a new player, you typically start with rainbow elemental (mixed) setups, then move toward mono teams to make the best of leader skills, and other buff items. We will go over the pros and cons of Rainbow vs Mono type team setup.
Rainbow Elemental Team Setup
This team setup is the easiest to make in the beginning because you can build up your team at a much faster pace through fusion experience bonus coming from same elemental fusion. As you move through the game in the beginning, you can get a wide variety of units that can be fused to level up your individual characters.
In addition, rainbow team provides you with great coverage in the first few zones. This helps you to move forward without getting stuck in any given quest.
When you are going rainbow setup, you generally want to get 1 element of each kind or at least 4 different elements, so that you can make use the leader skill that boost ATK for different units. However, if you can a mix of 2 type 3 element, you can consider using the various God’s power associated with your element.
You generally should not use item seals for your rainbow team as they will take up too much of your item slots.

Pulsating Retribution: BB Gauge greatly fills after each turn
Loving Spirit – Boost in effectiveness of Heart Crystals
5 Light’s Power – Boost damage when units from 5 elements are present.
Mono Elemental Team Setup
The mono elemental team is exactly as it is named, you choose one of the element and go with it. You should always have the leader skill with the abilities to boost your damage of a given element. The leader skill is named as God’s Power and comes with your basic starter units.
The benefit of mono team is that it can quickly take out one of the opposing enemy elements if they use rainbow. And they make the best use of your elemental ores and seals. However, the only down fall is the monotype team can get destroyed if you are actually faced with another mono team of disadvantageous element.

In addition, you may have harder time going after dungeons of opposing element. As a result you will most likely build 2~3 different mono team down the road, this effort can get costly and time consuming.

Healer Variation
It should note that there is 1 strand of strategy that incorporates a healer of different element, usually the opposing element. By doing so you spread out the risk a little bit. If your team faces a team with elemental disadvantage, at least your healers can stay alive longer to keep your team healed.
Character Type (BB) Team Building
You can build your team towards a certain direction. In general, an offensive or defensive focused team fare better. This is because an offensive team can quickly take out enemy units, defensive team can withstand more attacks. However, a mixed team will usually have its weakest link taken out fast, and which loses the battle.
Below are some recommendations for the unit types and stats that can help you decide how to build your Brave Frontier team.
Offensive
You generally want to have 4 attackers and 1 healer on the team. You usually want to keep at least 2 AoE or even 3 AoE attack bravebursts on your team. Consider keeping 1 single target Brave Burst‘s to break through the defense of defensive teams.

Your goal is to quickly kill enemy teams before they can retaliate. In general, your goal is to take out a couple of units within the first 1~2 turns so that the damage you end up receiving in later rounds is greatly reduced. REC can be useful if you can manage to pull off your Brave Burst fast.
Focus Stats: HP, ATK, REC
Focus Types: Breaker, Anima, Oracle
Spheres: Muramasa, Death Scythe, Beast Blade
Unit Example: Starter units, Super rare units with AoE Brave bursts.
Healer BB: Gradually restore HP such as Phoenix. This is because your damage team take more damage through the rounds, your goal is try to keep their HP as full as possible at all times.
Defensive
This type is the turtle strategy, you will tank through the enemy attacks while wearing out the enemies. However, you still need to have a decent attack to at least damage more than what heart crystal heals for.
Focus Stats: HP, DEF, ATK
Focus Types: Guardian, Anima, Lord.
Spheres: Goddess Seal, Royal Shield, Gilded Pearl.
Unit Example: Magress, Behemoth, Lance
Healer BB: You want to have single heal type healers that recover HP in one BB cast. The reason is that your team has great defense to last a couple of attacks, thus having a stronger one shot heal may work better.
Mixed
This team building uses units from both of the categories. However, you generally want to mix in stronger attacks that you would of defense.
Possible Mix
3 Atk, 1 Healer
3 Atk, 2 Def
2 Atk, 3 Def
Spheres: Equip the spheres based on their specialty.
Types: Use the types laid out in the previous section.
Healer: In this case, you still want a gradual heal based heal as they help more with your attack based units. In a mixed team, your offensive units are the weakest link in terms of defense, thus your primary goal is to keep them alive while your defense units soak up some of the damage.
Focus Stats: HP, ATK, REC
Spark and Number of Hits
When you are putting together your team, it may be worthwhile to train a team with high numbers of hits together. Doing so can net you additional Sparks and more items while advancing in the game.
AoE Brave Bursts
Although we have mentioned the power of AoE’s before, it is important to mention it again here. You definitely want a good team with AoE BB skills more than single BB skills. This is because AoE effects in most situations are generally more effective than single attacks. You have higher chance of landing killer shots in Arena, have the ability to advance further in Frontier Hunter, and can quickly go through harder quests. The optimal team setup should have at least 2-3 AoE attackers. Or you can even go 4 AoE’s and forgo the single attackers.

Team Situations
Harder Dungeons: To advance through some of the harder dungeons, you must have a healer within your team to conserve the usage of healing items. If you are stuck with the quest dungeons, your primary goal is to use Metal Parade and level them up. Mono teams that are geared towards the right element are the best. However, rainbow teams work too especially for the final stages of the zones.
Arena: Full offense teams or defense teams work best in arena settings. Either quickly take out the enemy teams or defend enough to wear them off. However, it is much easier to go full offense than defense due to various buffs offered to offense.
