How to Open a DMG File in Windows Martin Hendrikx Updated April 2, 2018, 10:29pm EDT Whether you are an avid Mac programmer using a Windows PC, or you just found a DMG file on your Windows machine, it can be useful to know what it is and how to open it.

Description

iDecrypt is a GUI front-end for VFDecrypt (resulting in this program breaking GNU GPL) for Windows/OS X. It's used to decrypt .DMG files, namely the rootfs of an IPSW file.

The tool is very simple to use. Here are the Steps:

• Sept 2013 my computer started to ran super slow (about 100 times slower, 2 and half days just to repair disk and install max os) and in the disk utility it has 4 decryptedfile.dmg that I can´t remove, I am more inclined to agree it is a trojan rather those who say don´t worry it is nothing and I am a level x and the other guy is just a level x-1 so I know better.
• Sep 18, 2013 I just found a strange mounted drive in Disk Utility, it is named decrytptedFile.dmg and seems to contain a Flash Player Installer. Did a quick search on google and some seem to say it is a a file that might have been left after a Flash Player update and some others say it is possibly the Flashback malware.
• Open the biggest file ending with.decrypted.dmg in order to mount the disk image. In this example: 038-1768-165.decrypted.dmg. Run iOS Artwork Extractor. If the mounted iOS firmware version matches your simulator version, then you will discover much more artwork. IOS 8 firmware. VFDecrypt Keys are not widely available for iOS 8.
• Aug 17, 2018 If you use iDecryptIt on the file, iDecryptIt will decrypt it. The decrypted file can then be extracted with (the included) 7-Zip or mounted as a virtual hard drive with certain tools. Please do not contact me asking for keys. The keys provided by iDecryptIt are NOT my own work, but the contributors to The iPhone Wiki.

1. Select file to decrypt
2. Enter key if not found automatically -- Get them from this wiki
3. Chose output folder
4. Click Decrypt DMG

• Windows: Use 7-Zip to extract the DMG, then the biggest file
• Mac: Mount the DMG

You should not rename the extracted DMG if on a Mac.

Errors

There are some things can't be called errors like:

• Even if the key is wrong, it says 'Decryption is done!' which is wrong

• This is something wrong with VFDecrypt, not iDecrypt
